Perfect For Oily-Dehydrated and Acne-Prone Skin - Review: Belif Eucalyptus Herbal Extract Toner and Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh

I talked about Belif Eucalyptus Herbal Extract Toner and Oil Control Fresh Moisturizer many times in my previous review, especially when it involves my bf who has acne-prone, sensitive and oily-dehydrated skin. He is a person who rarely drinks water, does a lot of outdoor activities (physically active) and almost never consumes enough vegetables. Hence, he has been suffering from oily skin, blemish and big pores. His condition has improved a little when he starts adding Kiehl's calendula products into his routine, and his oily skin problem is much mitigated with Kiehl's Oil Eliminator Moisturizer. But you'll notice that none of these actually addresses his dehydrated skin. So his blemish always in a come-and-go condition, until after he switches to the Belif Eucalyptus Toner and Fresh Moisturizer.

Let's look at these toner and emulsion duo that get him hooked in the past 4 months:

Belif Eucalyptus Herbal Extract Toner

Belif Eucalyptus Herbal Extract Toner is a refreshing, watery toner designed specifically for oily and sensitive skin. It contains 5% astringent component to regulate pores and 10% sebum control herb complex to reduce sebum production. The toner is also very refreshing and will leave the skin moist, cool and hydrated.

You use this in your usual toner step, after cleansing. You can either soak it with a cotton pad and swipe it across your skin, or simply pour it onto your hand and pat it for absorption.

The toner comes in a watery consistency that gets absorbed almost instantaneously into the skin. It smells like most other Belif products, which is a refreshing herbal lemonic scent.

INGREDIENTS

*Napiers Original Formula (a herbal formula for clarification and hydration)
+Fragrances of natural origin

INGREDIENTS ANALYSIS

This toner contains 8% eucalyptus leaf extract, which is also known as blue gum. Eucalyptus has many known skin benefits, notably in its anti-bacterial, anti-acne and anti-inflammatory properties. Its oil extract is also a fragrance oil commonly added to skincare products to offer extra wound-healing and antiseptic benefits.

I would say that this is an astringent toner, but a lot milder than normal astringent toner. It still contains alcohol, but you won't feel the tingling and tightening sensation normally associated with alcohol when you apply it on your skin. You'll only feel your skin is much refreshed and hydrated, thanks to many other soothing herbs that here. This toner also contains spearmint extract offer extra refreshing and cooling sensation for acne-prone and oily skin.

Ingredients such as catnip flower extract, rice bran extract, calendula flower extract, and so on are what Belif uses in most of its skincare products, namely the "Original Napiers Formula" but this one focuses more on pores reducing and clarifying, which I think they change the technology or formulation by a bit.

In short, the formulation as a whole does look like a herbal extracts-enriched astringent toner. There is nothing that really talks about hydrating but most Belif products with Napiers Original Formula are hydrating on its own. Panthenol, a very mild and gentle humectant is also added to offer the extra boost in hydration.

PERFORMANCE

My bf loves this a lot. He says this is the best hydrating toner he ever uses. His skin feels very comfortable ever time he uses it. Not too sticky or tacky. It offers just the right dose of moisture to calm his oily-dehydrated skin. And his pores also appear smaller over prolonged use. This is the only toner he uses in the past 4 months and he absolutely adores it. Hydrating, sebum-controlling and refreshing.

Next, Belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh

This is a lightweight gel lotion that is designed for combination to oily skin. Anyone with imbalance oil-moisture barrier, with excessive sebum production and insufficient moisture production, yet wanting something to seal in the moisture, can give this a try.

It contains 4% skin protectant and 83% skin conditioning agent. Basically, a whole lot of this are skin conditioner.

You apply after a serum. For a lazy bug like my bf, he uses this right after toner.

The product is a lightweight gel lotion that spreads nicely on the skin, sort of like a lightweight essence. It gets absorbed easily into the skin, leaving it cool, calm, moist and buffered.

+Napiers Moisture Formula (a herbal formula for oil-moisture balance)
**Fragrances of natural origin

INGREDIENTS ANALYSIS

Can you spot the similarities between both the Eucalyptus toner and the Fresh Moisturizer? They have dog rose extract, eucalyptus extract, spearmint extract as well as the Napiers Original Formula in common. This Fresh Moisturizer, however, has Napiers Moisture Formula added to it for extra moisture-oil balance benefit. As such, you can forgive it for the higher price tag.

A whole lot of this are moisturizers as well as surfactants and emulsifiers, things that balance the lipids and nutrients content inside this product to let it sit properly in an emulsion. We also have sorbitol, a humectant and slip agent that can supply moisture loss to the skin and help the skin retain moisture. It is commonly used in gel lotion as it can replace the need for heavier and thicker creamy moisturizing components in a moisturizer.

I have talked about Napiers formula many times in my previous Belif reviews, which you can check out here and here. Basically, they are antioxidants and anti-inflammatory herbal ingredients formulated together due to their similar skincare properties, and are added into different Belif products serving different purposes. In this moisturizer, the Moisture and Original Napiers formula are added.

PERFORMANCE

My bf says he likes this better than the Kiehl's Mens's Oil Eliminator 24 Hour Anti-Shine Moisturizer. This is much lightweight with a lot of hydration, if compared to Kiehl's that only cools and absorbs sebum. I think that's because my bf has oily-dehydrated skin. Normal oily skin might still prefer Kiehl's as it has better sebum-absorbing properties. However, absorbing sebum is not a long-term solution for oily skin type. It is just like why oily skin should wash their face every 2-3 hours, rather they should supply their skin with moisture to reduce the production of oil. I am not entirely clear about the whole mechanism behind this but my bf who has tested it says that his skin looks and feels much better now. I think the key is the benefit for better oil and moisture balance.

CONCLUSION

In short, I think these two will be my bf's new loves before better ones take over. And I will continue to update you guys once he has found his new favourites. So far, I think these two are really well-made products with reasonable prices. All skin types, except for dry to very dry skin, can use this. It supplies lightweight hydration to the skin, regulates sebum production (instead of just sucking sebum out), and are really gentle and mild. Perfect for oily-dehydrated and acne-prone sensitive skin!
